★★ Marxist/Progressive Book Club ★★

Next bimonthly meeting:

.

Book Club meets every other month. Last month, on April 14, we discussed
Why Marx Was Right, by Terry Eagleton.

The next meeting will be Saturday, June 16, 1 pm, for a discussion on Thomas Paine, with emphasis on The Age of Reason, Part 1.

Place: 3744 Garfield Ave. S., Mpls.

Copies of Thomas Paine’s Rights of Man: A Biography by Christopher Hitchens, which includes an analysis of The Age of Reason, are available from Doris for $10 (new, hard cover, 158 pp, list $19.95—a good deal from a local bookstore, The Book House, Dinkytown)—or in libraries.
In addition, everyone is encouraged to sample Common Sense, The Age of Reason, The Rights of Man, and any other work by Paine, and bring ideas to the discussion. Most are easily available in libraries as well as on line—for example, see http://www.ushistory.org/paine/commonsense/
